FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you create book covers for a flat rate?
No. Each of the book covers I create are very unique and take varying amounts of time to perfect. I create my own images instead of using stock images, thereby adding to the originality of your book cover. As such, I create book covers under an hourly rate according to the fees for either or both Custom Print Material and Custom Image Design, depending on the design needs. Please see my list of Services for more info on rates and fees.
Do you design the front and back for book covers?
Yes. I've done both before. I'll just need your publisher's exact image dimensions and specifications (length, width, optimal resolution, format). The more information you can provide, the better. Also be sure to have all of your content proofread prior to forwarding it on to me. While I may be a stickler for English myself and pretty good at attention to detail, the text itself is not my main priority when designing and putting together your cover layout.
Can I have the design by tomorrow?
Yes. If it's a simple project and I don't have too many other projects, I can sometimes get it back to you the same day. Or if it's a detailed project, there's an expedited fee.
No. Quality work takes time and communication. If you want a well-made design that captures your vision description, we have to work to provide feedback in a timely manner and develop the initial concept together.
Can I have work done for cheaper if there's no rush?
No. I don't work a "name your own price" gig just because there is no rush. But, I do work as efficiently and quickly as possible while maintaining quality. It's also better to set a deadline even if there is no rush. Please see my list of Services for more info on rates and fees.
Will you send the .PSD file to me?
No. Unless you are familiar with Photoshop and/or Illustrator, I won't send you the working file. I will send you a compressed .zip folder with the image file in .PNG, .TIF, and .JPG formats.
